What we are going to do?

Academic profile

The programme focuses on institutional economics: the history and evolution of institutionalism, research methods, and applications of institutional concepts at national, global and firm level.

​Classes are taught in English by staff from the Institute of Economics and invited business practitioners.

 

Programme structure (9 days)

Days 1–4:

  • 6 teaching hours per day.
  • Classes on the history and development of institutional economics, empirical research methods and applications at country, global and firm/industry level.​

Day 5:

  • Walking tour of Lodz combined with a lecture on city development and an institutional case study.​

Day 6:

  • Consultations and individual work.
  • Test exam verifying learning outcomes; successful participants receive a diploma and 3 ECTS.​

Days 7–8 – LSEG Workspace micro‑module:

  • 12 hours of classes over 2 days.
  • Tools for searching, filtering, extracting and reporting company, ownership‑linkage and macroeconomic data, with a focus on neo‑institutional data.
  • Practical assessment marked by a different examiner; participants receive a micro‑certificate.

Day 9:

  • Additional office hours and resit dates for participants who did not pass earlier exams.
     

 

Learning outcomes

Participants gain knowledge in institutional economics and learn to analyse institutional frameworks in economies and firms.

They also acquire hands‑on skills in using LSEG Workspace, documented by a diploma and a micro‑credential.
